Caddy*  26  (1837 - 1863)  Born in Noble Co, OH;  Married Annie Straley (sister of Pvt Wesley T Straley of Co C) and they had one child;  Mustered in as Capt;  Killed in action at Chickamauga, GA on 20 Sep 63;  He is buried in Lima, OH;  His younger brother,  Sgt Charles B. Caddy listed below?

 

 

 

Alonzo Wesley Black  30  (1833 or 35 - 1924)  Born in NY according to the 1870 Census--all others have him  born in OH;  Mustered in as 1 Lt;  Would become Capt of Co F on 11 Aug 64;  He worked as a Harness Maker after the War and was married at least twice (perhaps 3 times)--in 1870 Fayette Co, OH, his wife, Evaline, is 33--their 2 youngest children are toddlers, but two teenage children are listed, as well (perhaps from an earlier mother?)  In 1883, he married Susan Elizabeth Sponcler in Cuyahoga Co and they remain married until his death;  Lived most of his post-War life in Cuyahoga Co, OH;  His tombstone has his birth year as 1833, but the 1900 Census shows him born in March 1835; His family knew him by his middle name, Wesley or Wes;  His younger brother, Jerome, served with the 44th OH Inf and later with the  8th OH Cav

 

 

 

Jacob Bush  32  (1830 - 1904)  Born and lived nearly his whole life in Fayette Co, OH;  He married Rosanna Straley in 1854;  Mustered in as 2 Lt;  Resigned on 23 Oct 63;  He usually listed himself as a Farmer on the Census, although he included the occupations of Miller and Carpenter on two of the Census records;

Caddy, Charles B. 19  (1844 - 1920)  Born in Tuscarawas Co, OH, the younger brother of Capt Robert D. Caddy (bio above);  In 1860, sixteen-year-oldCharles worked as a Printer;  Mustered in as Sgt;  Discharged on Surgeon's Certif at Cripple Creek on 11 Mar 63;  The Caddys are related to the Creamer and Straley families, who are also represented in Co C;  After the War, Charles was a Journalist/Editor;  He was married in 1875 to Mary Ellen Irmer, and although he and his wife had three children, none of them lived to adulthood;  He died and is buried in Pendleton, Madison Co, IN

 

Cockerill, Jacob S.  23  (1839 - 1936)  Born in Fayette Co, OH on 29 Jul 39, he spent almost all of his life as a Farmer in Fayetter Co;  Mustered in as Cpl;  Later appointed Sgt on 11 Mar 64;  Was one of the Color Bearers and according to the 1902 History, he was the first one to plant the colors on the Confederate works at Nashville;  Mustered out with company;  According to his obituary, the tattered colors that he carried in battle was one of his prized possessions;  He married Hannah Lines in 1866 and they had 11 children;  He was 96 when he died

 

 

Dennon, Isaac J.  24  (1839 - )  Mustered in as a Pvt;  Appointed Cpl on 1 Mar 63;  Would be wounded at Chickamauga on 19 Sep 63;  WOuld transfer to VRC on 15 Jan 65

Harper, John W.  20  (1843 - )  Mustered in as Cpl;  Appointed Sgt on 1 Mar 63;  Would be appointed 1 Sgt on 16 Mar 64 and eventually be promoted to Sgt Maj on 25 May 65

 

 

King, Moses C.  41  (1822 - )  Mustered in as Cpl, but reduced to Pvt on 1 May 63 (why?);  WOuld received a Surgeon's Discharge on 15 Jun 64 in Madison, IN
